Even though there is a lot of good quotes in Catcher in the Rye, the one that really stuck out to me was "Goddam money. It always ends up making you blue as hell." to me this says that. Holden does actually know some truth in his life, and sows some innocence in his life. He has all this money and he is now realizing that money can't always help you. Yeah it can help you buy food, something to drink and clothes but even though everyone needs that, we need so much more. E need love and someone to get our backs when we are low. Holden says he doesn't have anyone, but he is wrong. He has so many people in his life that would love to help him, but he doesn't realize it. He doesn't realize that he is pushing them away from himself, and when he reaches out to them, he doesn't show he needs them. This quote shows and proves that money can't buy you happiness. Holden thinks he can buy himself happy by getting drinks or going to bars, with all this money he thinks he can just go somewhere and get a date with a few drinks and that wil. Make him happy. Whenever he does carry out is plan, before it even starts he realizes that it won't make him happy. Since Holden is going to all these boarding schools, his parent must have quit amounts of money on their hands. With all their money that Holden coul shave, he is realizing that money can't buy him happiness and this is a good lesson for him. If he keeps on thinking that happiness come through money he will be in a world of hurt. This is so because when he gets older he will blow his money on things that he thinks will make him happy, but his expectations will be wrong. If he keep stinking this way he is going to have a long life.
Until Death Do Us Part
Until Death Do Us Part…
Until death do us part
Until death do us part
These are beginning to sound
Just like words
The meaning is being
Thrown right out of the door
And sucked into the past
And out of tradition
Until death do us part
Why are these words
So easy to say?
They roll off our tongue
And off our mind
Like our tears
Down our cheeks
Like there are suppose to be
Where did the gentlemen go?
Where did the beauty go?
What happened to taking ones pain
Together?
As the innocent flower girl
Goes down the isle
And the not so happy ring boy
Right by her side
As the music starts
And everyone stands up
As the look on the groom is priceless
When he sees his bride for the first time
They say something sweet
And have the kiss of commitment
They walk down the isle together
And go somewhere no one knows
And as the years go by
They will wonder what happened?
They were so happy
And come to find
That sometimes to them,
Words are words
And don’t have meaning
You truly have to feel the power in
Until death do us part
