Holden Caulfild

After reding these 4 chapters, I'm starting to really see the true Holden. Not the Holden thst everyone sees and what everyone thinks of him, but the side that almost no one sees. Everyone thinks Holden is a slacker and doesn't apply this self to anything, but they are wrong. He apples himself to life, he can look at someone and tell if they are "real" or "phony". He thinks his parent are phony and I think he feels this way because they never realy pay attention to him. They send him off To a boarding school and dont see him for monthsm and they seem to be okay with that. Everyone thinks his parents are grand, but thats not what he thinks. "Grand. There's a word that I really hate. It's a phony. I could puke every time I Hear it. That's why he doesn't have to many friends. He wants to befriend someone who always acts like themselves and that th vaule who they cruelly are. He is failing 4 out of 5 classes, except English class. He tries to say "I pawed English all right...because I had all that Beowulf and Lord Randal My Son stuff when I was at thE Whooton School" I think Holden passed this class be use he really valued it.I mean this was the only way he could write about his past, how he feels, and it was only way people would listen to him. Later in the book a girl comes up, a old friend of Holden's. Her name was Jane, an she was somewhat special to him. Ever since he heard that she was there, he could te stop thinking about her. Maybe this was one of those people who wasn't a "phony" in his eyes. Maybe this was someone he could really relate to. Was this this the only person that he really cares for?
